I'm a bit of an eclectic mess πŸ™‚ I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

I'm busy writing a new novel, but I decided to dust off my first novel (from 20 years ago) and re-publish it. It's on Amazon Kindle (and a few other places) πŸ™‚

There'll be a promo from Saturday where the book drops to 0.99 in price (but slowly goes up again over the week). Let me know if you like it?

I wrote my first novel 20 years ago. Have written a few books since then but haven’t really gotten back into the swing of writing till now. I’m really excited about the new one but am only 25% of the way through πŸ˜›

I am in dire need of feedback for my game Unhaunter: FOSS 2D Paranormal Investigation / Ghost Hunting.
If you would be interested on following my updates and sharing your feedback, please join r/Unhaunter ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Unhaunter ) - I would really appreciate it ✨

Please boost this also for more coverage πŸš€ - the intersection between FOSS+Phasmo+Contributors is very small. I do not know how or where to go to target the people that might be interested.

@axoaxonic @AngelaPreston I first read Weinbaum about 40 years ago and his aliens still remain in my mind. So they were certainly impactful πŸ™‚

Too bad that he passed away fairly young. I often wonder what else he might have written 😞

@axoaxonic @axoaxonic @axoaxonic I’m writing a science fiction story at the moment which has non-human creatures, but they are not aliens. They are intelligent raisins πŸ™‚

But not sure that helps you. The best aliens I recall are from Stanley G. Winbaum but you might have read his stuff already?

@Aaronvegh I only blog occasionally but am in the middle of writing a new book that I’m thinking of posting online.

Might be interested if that seems like something that would work for you? Always interested in testing out new software and the macOS app sounds like something I’d use a lot πŸ™‚

UPDATE!

I have a solid lead … thanks for all the help!

Hey, Mastodon … I’m trying to track down an developer named Stephen D. Cronin.

He worked at and operated a software company called TapTech based out of Austin, Texas in the late 90s. I’ve managed to contact his former software partner, Francis Preve … but Francis lost touch with Stephen years ago.

Together they released a sequencer program for called NR404 and I’m hoping the source code still exists somewhere.

I'm writing again.

Haven't written in a good few years and have been a pantser till now. But am going in with a plan this time and it's moving much faster than usual. All I have to do is sit down and I start writing πŸ™‚

It all started with just one line and now I can't stop πŸ˜›

Anybody interested in beta reading the first chapter, or part of it?

I saw multiple posts talking about how great "Madgaon Express" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26745657) was ...

I really should have known better πŸ˜› Shilling online has gone to great lengths but talking up a pointless, horrible movie as a brilliant comedy?

Not worth the time β€” just avoid.

"Laapataa Ladies" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21626284) is interesting and thought-provoking.

Definitely not your run-of-the-mill movie.

Some might call it gender-politics, but they'd be wrong πŸ˜› There's so much in the story that's right, or at least makes you think about the way things are ...

@jefframes I switched to OSLog because of the Xcode console logging improvements, but when it came to a bug in the app for a different user, I realized that there was no way to get logs other than from the current session β€” which was totally useless for my purposes since I needed the logs from the previous few sessions too …

So I actually wrote my own logger (very basic, very simple) which saves to a text files and which the user can send me via email (as a ZIP file) from within the app with one tap.

That has worked beautifully so far for my own use cases.

@MortonRobD @davemark Not sure that brand alone is at play here. I’ve had several Hisense Roku TVs and have had no issues - but then again, I have no Windows PCs on my networks either …

So it probably is an issue only if you have Windows computers on your network *and* you have a Hisense Android TV possibly?

I can’t say for sure but all I can tell you is that if you have a network for Mac computers and iOS devices and have a Hisense Roku TV, it works fine … or at least, has for me in multiple countries with multiple Hisense TVs πŸ™‚

"Fallout" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12637874) is about stupid people β€” people who can't think for themselves and adhere to a company line centuries after the company itself has withered away to dust.

People who can’t distinguish between right and wrong themselves and who need a company policy (which is always profit) to define how they should behave.

They think that they can build a better world with that kind of approach?

It's better that humanity dies out instead ...

"Fallout" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12637874) says: "The problem with the world is factions endlessly fighting. So get rid of the other factions and make it just us."

Are they/we that stupid?

The factions come from within us. Once we get ride of all factions, we'll divide/fight amongst ourselves.

We always do.

(Might post my thoughts about β€œFallout” later but just not sure how to do so without spoilers …)

I've had the same Amazon account for 20+ years. Used it from multiple countries. Bought things worth thousands.

And now, in the middle of a major move with lots of orders, they close my account and I don't know what's going on. I get emails saying orders shipped (and at least one high-value order has been duplicated) but I can’t track them, or cancel the duplicated one.

I contacted support several times, but their response is basically, β€œWe’ve escalated to another team and they’ll contact you.”

I get emails from no-reply email addresses which say contradictory things but I can’t ask questions to clarify. And of course, contacting support again isn’t helpful 😞

Anybody know a direct contact at Amazon who might be able to help?

Please boost for reach? πŸ™

While I missed it when it first came out, "Gully Boy" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2395469) is a great watch about Indian rappers πŸ™‚

While it might be facile to compare it to "8 Mile", that's what the movie immediately reminded me of.

Love the characters and the fact nobody is black-and-white. Characters who might generally be reduced to a "villain" are shown to have multiple facets and how you perceive them changes as the story progresses.

A joy to watch.

"Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27459160) is an interesting movie.

I can't say much without spoiling the story, but it is a SciFi romance which tackles the subject matter fairly realistically ... except, for the protagonist. Totally unbelievable there πŸ˜›

All I’ll say is, that he is supposed to be great at his job and yet fails miserably when it comes to seeing the most basic clues pertaining to his area of expertise.

The final payoff wasn't there for me and so this is not a movie I will want to watch again, but it's still worth watching once because they handled the subject better than most Indian movies come close to ...

Bollywood attempts at creating new superheroes like "Brahmastra" or "Ra.One" didn't really land for me.

But the Telugu "Hanu Man" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15433956) actually works pretty well.

And the references to American comics/superheroes scattered through the story are rather delightful πŸ™‚

Then there's other touches like the pickle song, the guy who wants to be a superhero who is the villain, and the "hey siri" bit that add to the story.

Overall, well worth watching.
