I'm a bit of an eclectic mess 🙂 I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

Lived in: 🇱🇰🇸🇦🇺🇸🇳🇿🇸🇬🇲🇾🇦🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇵🇹🇶🇦🇨🇦

I have terminal cancer and I'm looking for some friends to help me through my loneliness. Can you reblog and give recommendations to help me find a community here?

After having given it a day for everything to sink in, this year’s WWDC feels … anticlimactic.

The features I’d really like to try out are not going to be available for a while. I don’t really care about a lot of the new features. And there seems to be nothing that I really want to try out in terms of Swift changes that I really want to code on …

Tried watching some WWDC videos from yesterday and today and I’m mostly just unmoved (and unmotivated ) by them.

I think I’m going to take a break from WWDC and go work on some Flutter stuff … which I’m at least excited by — at least, right now 🙂

@bardi Your project sounds very interesting to me given that I don’t like scrambling to keep up — and it feels as if you do too 🙂

Let me know if you need any beta testers … I’m always up for more beta testing, especially if it’s a Fedi client 🙂 I’ve created 4 - 5 different clients based on open source projects to suit my own needs but eventually move on to a new iteration …

@bardi I figured it might be post-WWDC but didn’t want to assume 🙂

I have this customised client where I can colour code posts from people in different lists. So I have all my “Swift people” under one list and the colour coding has been very helpful in keeping up with the WWDC stuff. I just ignore non-coloured (or not of the specific colour I want) posts and just move on to the next Swift/WWDC related one.

I didn’t realize how helpful that was till I switched to the new client I’m working on which doesn’t have that feature 😛

@bardi Interesting that you should say that 🙂

Not quite sure what “days like today” meant for you, but yesterday I was testing a new Flutter Fedi client through the day because my timeline would keep updating quite rapidly and it allowed me to test some background fetching functionality easily 😛

Then I made a major change and it all broke .. and I got caught up between catching up on the reaction to Apple events and fixing the client 😀

@theevildonut Haven’t used it. Does it have keyboard support too? That’s what I really look forward to with the Apple implementation … I hate typing on the iPhone and none of the existing “use your Mac keyboard” solutions actually work most of the time …

@davemark The most exciting things for me were the iPhone mirroring (love that to death — if it works well …) and the math/script stuff on iPad though I’m not even sure I’ll actually get to use it 😛

Curious about the “AI” (whichever version of the acronym you want to go with) as to how well it would work and if it’s actually going to be as good as the demos. Plus, all the generated images were small — what happens if you want bigger images? Does it work or is the generation limited by size?

A lof of the early stuff barely moved the needle for me …

I'm busy writing a new novel, but I decided to dust off my first novel (from 20 years ago) and re-publish it. It's on Amazon Kindle (and a few other places) 🙂

There'll be a promo from Saturday where the book drops to 0.99 in price (but slowly goes up again over the week). Let me know if you like it?

I wrote my first novel 20 years ago. Have written a few books since then but haven’t really gotten back into the swing of writing till now. I’m really excited about the new one but am only 25% of the way through 😛

I am in dire need of feedback for my game Unhaunter: FOSS 2D Paranormal Investigation / Ghost Hunting.
If you would be interested on following my updates and sharing your feedback, please join r/Unhaunter ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Unhaunter ) - I would really appreciate it ✨

Please boost this also for more coverage 🚀 - the intersection between FOSS+Phasmo+Contributors is very small. I do not know how or where to go to target the people that might be interested.

@axoaxonic @AngelaPreston I first read Weinbaum about 40 years ago and his aliens still remain in my mind. So they were certainly impactful 🙂

Too bad that he passed away fairly young. I often wonder what else he might have written 😞

@axoaxonic @axoaxonic @axoaxonic I’m writing a science fiction story at the moment which has non-human creatures, but they are not aliens. They are intelligent raisins 🙂

But not sure that helps you. The best aliens I recall are from Stanley G. Winbaum but you might have read his stuff already?

@Aaronvegh I only blog occasionally but am in the middle of writing a new book that I’m thinking of posting online.

Might be interested if that seems like something that would work for you? Always interested in testing out new software and the macOS app sounds like something I’d use a lot 🙂

UPDATE!

I have a solid lead … thanks for all the help!

Hey, Mastodon … I’m trying to track down an developer named Stephen D. Cronin.

He worked at and operated a software company called TapTech based out of Austin, Texas in the late 90s. I’ve managed to contact his former software partner, Francis Preve … but Francis lost touch with Stephen years ago.

Together they released a sequencer program for called NR404 and I’m hoping the source code still exists somewhere.
