Days like today are the perfect use case for a new Mastodon app in the works. I know I need it. And so I’m pretty confident there are others too (:

@bardi Interesting. I also find @pipilo an interesting take on how to browse your timeline.

@martind @pipilo looks neat. But there is scrolling your timeline, and then there’s reading your timeline ;)

@bardi @pipilo Hit me up if you need a TF user for your “new way” to read your timeline. 👍

@bardi Interesting that you should say that 🙂

Not quite sure what “days like today” meant for you, but yesterday I was testing a new Flutter Fedi client through the day because my timeline would keep updating quite rapidly and it allowed me to test some background fetching functionality easily 😛

Then I made a major change and it all broke .. and I got caught up between catching up on the reaction to Apple events and fixing the client 😀

@f days like today = post-WWDC (keynotes). So much information to process, and although not so much doomscrolling (because the content is good and positive) but similarly anxiety inducing because of the feeling of overwhelm and not wanting to miss anything.

At least you made it a positive deal :)

@bardi I figured it might be post-WWDC but didn’t want to assume 🙂

I have this customised client where I can colour code posts from people in different lists. So I have all my “Swift people” under one list and the colour coding has been very helpful in keeping up with the WWDC stuff. I just ignore non-coloured (or not of the specific colour I want) posts and just move on to the next Swift/WWDC related one.

I didn’t realize how helpful that was till I switched to the new client I’m working on which doesn’t have that feature 😛

@f that is a pretty cool trick! But I’ve (unfortunately) been a lists person :( But that’s a pretty valid signal you got about the actual utility of the feature.

I’m working on something that de-emphasises the almost auto-scrolling nature of social media, and prioritises deep reading.

@bardi Your project sounds very interesting to me given that I don’t like scrambling to keep up — and it feels as if you do too 🙂

Let me know if you need any beta testers … I’m always up for more beta testing, especially if it’s a Fedi client 🙂 I’ve created 4 - 5 different clients based on open source projects to suit my own needs but eventually move on to a new iteration …

@f cool, thank you! I will definitely. I’ll put word out hopefully before the end of the month. I’m determined to push it out quickly. Learning to ship MVPs this year :) I’m having fun with this one, and its initial internal build is looking quite promising.
