I'm a bit of an eclectic mess ๐Ÿ™‚ I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

Lived in: ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Hey folks. I'm going to be extremely candid. I'm looking for a role and I need one extremely fast. I was trying to tease this news, but we're expecting twins. If you need any kind of iOS developer work, please please please consider me.

*Niche request, please boost:*

Looking for input and expertise in **how to legally co-own a multigenerational family home** where seven of us live.

Two married couples with kiddos, plus a mother-in-law, all on the same property, living in what is essentially a single unit.

Our goals:
* giving all parties a fair share of home equity, given that one of us paid more for down payment and the rest of us pay for mortgage;
* minimizing complication + taxes when oldest person passes away;
* not paying a ton of money to a lawyer to handle this
* still able to put some/all of our land into conservation, eventually

Ideas:
Tenants in common with a co-ownership agreement? A complex trust? A coop or LLC?

EDIT: I'm in Massachusetts, USA

Don't want to come across as begging but I'm scared. 130+ jobs applied for, 2 interviews, 2 rejections. I know it sucks for everyone right now but I really need work.

Laid off while recovering from long COVID. Remote worker since 2015, or blue state with relocation assistance. Project 2025 is on the horizon and fucking terrified because even if Kamala wins, I don't think she's going to protect trans people in red states. At this point a month left before both health insurance & money run out.

All the usual SRE stuff plus all sorts of indepth Linux stuff, actually enjoy cursed bash and regexes. Not the World's Greatest Rockstar Dev but can get by in Python, C, and Go. Lots of monitoring, observability, and big data stuff, also done some heavy security work in the past, plus AuDHD hyperfocus on demand and willing to learn anything.

Will find and fix any problem in a company, if it's technical, political, or something else.

A few days ago I lost my job due to the company I have worked for filing for bankruptcy. Now I am looking for a new, preferably startup, to work for.

If you think a full stack developer with 15+ years of C++ experience, 12 years of C#/.NET experience, and with additional experience in kernel development, Windows internals, reverse engineering, Qt and LLVM sounds interesting - please hit me up!

I am located in Sweden and looking for remote positions.

I'm sure this is a wildly long shot but I don't suppose anyone here on the fediverse lives in the Northern Utah area or has contacts here who would be willing to replace a throttle position sensor on an 18 year old Kia for charity so that a middle-aged queer struggling with mental health issues doesn't have to deal with a 3 hr round trip commute to work when it's a 60 mile commute?

๐Ÿ“š New Project Update
Think I'm towards the final third of book two of the Far North series. Very exciting! Greenhouse Museum is collected, edited, formatted, and ready to be released at the end of next month too. As for our forays into spiritual research? Once I get through this series, it's going on a pause. Lastly, talking about the fear at Twitch and the future of what our streaming time might look like.
Hope you check it out!

Fediverse, due to my wife's thyroid cancer returning we are relocating to Seattle (from Illinois) -- where we can receive familial support and she can get treatment.

To that end, I'm looking for jobs in the area, but I'm looking to step back from what I've been doing so I have a bit more flexibility to help her and our son. So, hybrid or even full remote, but probably not a senior level position.

I've been consulting and that's been good, but it's too unsteady and too much work on unknown schedules to continue while she is undergoing treatment. I'll also be applying through standard channels, but I hope someone here can lend a hand.

If you follow me, you have a sense of humour. If you're reading this, you're a reader. Iโ€™ve put this story online, free, gratis and for nothing, it's a twelve minute read. If you like it, maybe youโ€™ll be curious enough to risk 99p for one of my short story collections. Maybe youโ€™ll be smart enough to save some money by buying a compilation. Maybe youโ€™ll be brave enough to buy my novel. Whatever happens, I hope you enjoy โ€˜Vincent'. http://aarondavid.co.uk/Vincent.html

Fahim Farook

"Mr. & Mrs. Mahi" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16227342) started out looking like another great Raj Kumar Rao movie.

But then towards the middle of the movie I started seeing issues. The main character is a guy who loved cricket but couldn't make it. He then realizes that his wife is great at cricket and starts coaching her.

However, the way the story goes, for most of the movie, the wife doesn't appear like a character on her own. She's just an extension of what her husband wants. His dreams, his desires.

When the wife makes it in cricket, the husband isn't happy for her success. Instead, all he cares is that he is not known as the architect of her success.

I became very annoyed at this point. Why couldn't the husband just support his wife? Why did he need everybody else to know that he was the reason his wife became a great cricketer?

I loved the movie up to that point because he'd found somebody with whom he shared something he loved. But when he started using his wife as a means to achieve his dreams and started resenting her, the movie just soured for me.

There are multiple issues with the movie was written โ€” how the father treated his son, how the husband treats his wife, how the wife's father treats his daughter etc. And I do realize that they needed the conflict for the movie to have different notes and not be monotonous.

Once past that wobble though, the ending was great. So I guess overall, it's worth watching if you can bear the rough patch in the middle.

The wife and I played more "No Man's Sky" this weekend. It's interesting to me that the new game update has been out maybe slightly over a week and it's already had two bug-fix updates on PS5 since then?

We originally had a couple of crashes while playing the game. Didn't have any crashes so far after the latest update. So maybe the crashes are fixed? I guess we'll see ...

But the game's still enjoyable ๐Ÿ™‚And this is an 8 year old game.
