I’ve been playing around with Midjourney and StableDiffusion. (See prompt below, “woman making pasta cyberpunk tech light”), and wondering why exactly it is that neural nets can’t draw hands.

I found a super interesting book about how humans learn to draw, and it turns out that drawing hands is hard for people too because they have so many dimensions and variations to them.

This is Cici, a longhaired tortoiseshell cat! Her portrait was painted with acrylics on a 3 inch ceramic ornament, just finished yesterday. This features natural colors (for the pet) on a hot pink background, with a bit of blue for contrast. I am pleased with how this turned out. I think I am getting the hang of painting on such a small surface!

On the lookout for small freelance gigs. I'd much prefer technical tasks over creative ones — photo touch up / editing, repairing 3D models / preparing them for print, recreating logos as vectors, etc. I like fixing problems for people. It's one of my joys in life.

Prices would be on the low side (<$50 for most things). And it's not an emergency, just trying to keep busy and put some extra cash in my pocket.
