I'm a bit of an eclectic mess πŸ™‚ I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

Terry Pratchett used to have multiple novels in the works simultaneously.

I never understood how he could do that when I was younger β€” all I could hear at a time were the voices from my current book.

Now I write everything down since I can't remember stuff and can't keep it all in my head. And suddenly I have multiple WIPs and understand how it might have worked for PTerry πŸ™‚

Asking for the ’s help, if it’s possible. My friend lost their car in the fire. That included the car seat for her 4 year old. Can anyone on the internets help me procure/secure a car seat for a baby and their long trip into Oakland? I’m sure there’s a place somewhere in that has to have baby goods for distribution… will you help me find it?

I’ve been googling all day and nothing… because we all know google is trash.

Thanks in advance.

Edited 3,200 words on the novella. Today's chapter is "Gnome Alone".

1,000 words written on the Flutter book. Got around the coding issue but didn't make as much progress as usual.

Taking a break for the weekend.

Edited 3,900 words today on the novella and then wrote 2,900 words on the Flutter book for kids.

Got stuck on another coding problem. Never get those with fiction since I can plot my way out of it πŸ˜›

@purplelorikeet We, the wife and I, liked "Stardust" when we originally saw it as a movie and we were talking of re-watching it.

Haven't read the book, but now, reflecting back upon it, I can see at least one troubling issue there that I hadn't considered originally. So I can totally understand how you must feel.

In the end, my personal opinion is that life is very short. You enjoy what you do and don't harm others or enable others who might be destructive/harmful. Beyond that, who really cares?

But that's just me πŸ™‚

@purplelorikeet This is my personal opinions, but equating someone to their work has never worked for me.

Like with actors in movies, the works of writers are not an extension of themsevels. If the writer themselves sounds good based in their interactions with people and their stance on things, then maybe. But even then, you can't really tell.

The one writer I know based on personal interactions and how they generally behaved was PTerry. I liked him and from all I can tell, he was always true to the projected personna.

I know nothing of Gaiman except for reading some of his writing. But he gave me Clive Barker vibes in his writing and that's a style that I don't really like. So I've never bothered to read more.

I think (and again, just my opinion) you should take the art as is. If you like the art, enjoy it. But if the creator turns out to be a bad human being, never give them your money ever again. That's all you can do.

"Skeleton Crew" and a lot of other Star Wars stories make me think that this stuff is being written by kids. The lack of security protocols, trusting anybody who walks in claiming to be something or other.

Is any of this believable?

@smatthew Yep. If you use the #Movies #Movie hashtags, you probably will find at least some posts. I know I post using those tags πŸ™‚

Today's writing was a bit curtailed due to the late rising .. and the fact that I have to plan the next chapter out a bit more.

Progress:
2,500 Editing
1,100 Writing

Had to help a friend yesterday with converting their book for Amazon and Draft2Digital and was reminded how confusing the mix of apps, formats, and publishers could be.

If any Indie author needs help with this stuff, I'd be happy to help β€” free of charge, of course πŸ™‚

Woke up just an hour later than usual and my morning routine is shot to pieces πŸ˜›

Still haven't gotten to doing my morning writing and editing while the world is quiet. Probably won't get as much done today. But ah, well ... that's how it goes, right?

Today's writing total is:
2,500 words edited for the humorous sci-fi novella
2,200 words written for the kids' Flutter book

Just a week or so to go to finish the first round of editing on the novella at this pace ... if I can sustain it.

While it's a bit violent, "Black Warrant" (or at least the first episode) has the bones of a good story.

I'm curious as to if the story continues to be good in the next episodes, or if it goes downhill ...

Did 1,600 words of writing on the Flutter programming book and 2,500 words of editing on the novella about sentient raisins.

So not too shabby a day, I guess?

@crcollins Based on bits I read on the Vulture article, he apparently has scenes of women being tortured and assaulted in his books and this was taken as a sign of his empathy towards women. Not sure how they arrived at that conclusion, but people seem to always see what they want to see ...

I was horrified by what I read, put the article down, then went back again but was even further horrified by what I read later and put it down again.

Not going back. It's just horrible. At least for me.

I couldn't continue with the Vulture article on Gaiman. I've never been a Gaiman fan. Only work of his I've read is "Good Omens" and that was due to the collaboration with PTerry.

But he's a monster. And it surprises me still how well people hide their vileness.

Edited about 3200 words and wrote 2400 for my Flutter programming for kids book.

Unfortunately, I've written myself into a corner for this particular chapter. Now need to backtrack to figure a way around πŸ˜›
