I'm a bit of an eclectic mess πŸ™‚ I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

Another periodic reminder that in addition to posting pictures of cats and dogs (and weird dogs), I write books. This is a book about an odd philosophy professor having to save the multiverse with the help of his annoying dopplegangers. There's no cats in this one, but a saber-toothed tiger plays an important role. (Twice.)

What if older adults were the ones who woke up one morning with amazing, uncanny superpowers, rather than teenagers?

What if so many people had powers that it wasn't even secret?

That's what life's been like in the world of Rough Passages since 1943, and the answers make for great stories.

(also apple, kobo, B&N etc)

Hey folks, I was just laid off from my job I'd worked at for 5 years.

I'm hurt, devastated and most of all scared. But I'm also ready to kick things into gear and bring my talents to another company or team.

I've been a Ruby on Rails dev since 2016 and have loved doing it.

On the side I've built a number of side projects to extend my skills.

If anyone knows of any opportunities I'd love to hear them, please repost or share with folks you know! Thank you.

Sharing this for two-spirit and Indigiqueer artists. Litmus Press is looking for cover art submissions for the cover of a volume of contemporary Indigenous LGBTQ2SIA+ poetry. You'll need to log into Submittable for the details. It's free to make an account there. https://litmuspress.org/about/submissions/

@davemark Yep, it's easier starting on the phone since then you can connect your desktop using the mobile app. Just scan the QR code that it shows on the desktop app (when you install it later) and it connects the two πŸ™‚

I hardly ever use my mobile and so I think I turned off notifications on mobile.

@davemark Are you using on Desktop or mobile? If on Desktop, there are two versions of the app and it always confuses me as to which one is which πŸ™‚

I've been using WhatsApp on desktop for years now since some countries where we lived (like the UAE) use it a lot for businesses and customer support. No issues so far.

@crcollins I have to confess that I'm not a huge fan of Discord since I prefer forums. The conversations on Discord are harder to keep track of.

Plus, if you are on a Mac, at least for me, the join Discord link does not work unless I have my dekstop client open. But if you need any help with setting it up etc, please feel free to ping me. I'm happy to help πŸ™‚

@crcollins Yes, it's just the Discord. Sorry, I should have been clearer in my post (will modify). You have the Discord join link on the page, but I didn't even look at the web page after that ...

Fahim Farook

I looked into how to promote your indie novel online over the weekend. Here's what I found:

@davemark SetApp is definitely worth the price πŸ™‚Have a bunch of apps that I used to upgrade every single time there was a new release β€” PathFinder, iStatMenus, BetterZip, Default Folder X, Paw, IconJar, TablePlus etc. Just those are worth the price IMO ...

@davemark Resonates with Terry Pratchett's "I Shall Wear Midnight" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Shall_Wear_Midnight) πŸ™‚

PTerry usually had historical reerences to most things he wrote. So I wonder if there's a link to both somewhere even further back in history?

It's August, and that means that -- after what seems a forever of waiting, as always with book launches -- Three Men in Orbit is now LIVE.

The official launch is at the Glasgow Worldcon, from a week tomorrow (8th August): but if you won't be there to buy it from me, feel free to order yours straight away.

Okay, bear with me, but I just love this review.πŸ₯Ί πŸ₯°

"One of the best things about this book was the way the author has weaved a multi-layered mystery within the narrative. The suspense is palpable, driving the story forward with a relentless pace that ensures there's never a dull moment. Moreover, the author's world-building is out-of-the-world"
