If there's any marginalised people in AU/NZ that need a new home in the wake of the mastodon.lol shutdown, sing out, Cloud Island would be happy to host you.
If you can please boost this. π
Current mastodon.lol members looking for a new home, Iβd encourage you to explore https://vmst.io/about and https://docs.vmst.io and see if we might be the place for you.
Feel free to reach out with any questions about site policy, moderation, or help with moving.
Iβve been having a lot of health problems recently which make it difficult to do development work, on both client or personal apps. My last client who provided occasional work has just dropped me. I canβt really take on any big client work due to my health. I am screwed unless I can sell a lot more of my own apps. Can you help me? And boost this thread?
I will reply to this post with links to some of my apps that I think some people might find useful. iOS developers should love some of them.
Welp, I got hit by yesterday's layoffs at Gusto. This was a bummer, because the app my wee team was working on was really starting to come together, and the people there are all super nice.
However, I'm gonna be fine in the end. If you are hiring for Staff-level iOS, hit me up, especially for things involving GraphQL and SwiftUI. Remote only, but I'm available immediately.
It feels a bit ghoulish to jump in on another server's closure but for those who need a new home now that mastodon.lol is shutting down, we still have plenty of room to grow on retro.pizza! We're a queer-run (but not queer-only) nerd culture instance with a small but healthy community and an admin who is very old and calloused by the Transformers Fandom Message Board Wars of the '00s.

If youβre a user of a Debian-based Linux distro, and youβre in the mood to help test a new Briefcase feature, Iβd appreciate the help. Iβve put together a draft of a deb packaging backend, and I need feedback on whether it works, and/or meets end-user expectations for Debian/Ubuntu/etc users. https://github.com/beeware/briefcase/pull/1081
