I'm a bit of an eclectic mess ๐Ÿ™‚ I've been a programmer, journalist, editor, TV producer, and a few other things.

I'm currently working on my second novel which is complete, but is in the edit stage. I wrote my first novel over 20 years ago but then didn't write much till now.

I post about #Coding, #Flutter, #Writing, #Movies and #TV. I'll also talk about #Technology, #Gadgets, #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and a few other things as the fancy strikes ...

My latest soft pastel artwork is titled 'Bluebird for Happiness and Lucky Clover' becuase it combines a beautiful Eastern bluebird with a four-leaf clover. One symbolizes happiness while the other is a symbol of luck.
See this artwork now in my online gallery at https://mm-anderson.pixels.com/featured/bluebird-for-happiness-and-lucky-clover-mm-anderson.html and soon on the other sites listed in my profile.

Do I know any product design people looking for a new opportunity? A little birdie tells me a large and growing open source project will be looking to hire a product designer soonโ€”likely working on established apps as well as new services.

Shoot me a DM (e.g. reply to this post with the visibility set to only people you mention) or get in touch somehow. https://cassidyjames.com

St Dunstan-in-the-East, London.

Designed approx 1100 on St Dunstan's Hill, halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London, this church has been added to and rebuilt multiple times over the centuries (as is common for buildings of this age). After damage from the Great Fire of London in 1666, Christopher Wren added a steeple. It was largely destroyed in WWII and the ruins are now a public garden.

Iโ€™ve been playing around with Midjourney and StableDiffusion. (See prompt below, โ€œwoman making pasta cyberpunk tech lightโ€), and wondering why exactly it is that neural nets canโ€™t draw hands.

I found a super interesting book about how humans learn to draw, and it turns out that drawing hands is hard for people too because they have so many dimensions and variations to them.

This is Cici, a longhaired tortoiseshell cat! Her portrait was painted with acrylics on a 3 inch ceramic ornament, just finished yesterday. This features natural colors (for the pet) on a hot pink background, with a bit of blue for contrast. I am pleased with how this turned out. I think I am getting the hang of painting on such a small surface!

๐ŸšจThe application for the Ida B. Wells Fellowship program is now open! ๐Ÿšจ

The year-long fellowship helps journalists complete their first major investigation and comes with a $25k stipend plus editorial and research support.

The Ida B Wells fellowship opened up so many doors for me, highly recommend it for early-career and aspiring investigative journalists of color!

Feel free to DM if you have any questions. Applications here:

On the lookout for small freelance gigs. I'd much prefer technical tasks over creative ones โ€” photo touch up / editing, repairing 3D models / preparing them for print, recreating logos as vectors, etc. I like fixing problems for people. It's one of my joys in life.

Prices would be on the low side (<$50 for most things). And it's not an emergency, just trying to keep busy and put some extra cash in my pocket.

Going through photos from Feb 2022 to prime/refresh memory for what to expect in the garden.

I should take more photos.
