Not entirely random observation at least in the corners of the I’m following the big tech company I see with the widest adoption of the Fediverse by a diversity of their employees is Apple. I see not just developers but leaders of various parts of Apple, PR folks, writers, marketers and more. Are there any other big companies with a lot of folks active here? (Whether tech companies or not)

I've had some nice replies to my post yesterday about #disabled #cooking, but my head hurts too much to even read through. :(

I'm not ignoring you, nice peeps, by choice. I'll try again later.

My insulin pump is connected via a tube to a cannula that goes through my skin.

The power outlet is connected to the grid, which gets some of its power from a nuclear plant in New Jersey.

I plug in my insulin pump to recharge.

If you follow the right wires, there is now an unbroken physical connection running from the inside of my body to the inside of a nuclear reactor.

A small swarm moved into my bait hive I had up a tree a couple of weeks ago. Got it down today and opened it up to reveal this beautifully crafted honeycomb, really calm bees and plenty of brood. I've cut this out and put the bees and all their comb in a nuc so I can move them into my apiary in a few days.

This polar bear paused with her cubs beside a water channel, at a northern Svalbard island. Shortly after the photo was taken, they swam to another island.

#Cooking and #Disabled peeps, I'm looking for dump and cook recipes.

I borked my knees and still have a very difficult and painful time standing/walking, so I need to simplify things. Today, I cooked a veg curry that needed stirring every now and then, and it was just too much for me, I realize, as I sit on the couch with my TENS unit on as I will the pain away.

I have a pressure cooker (with slow cooker function), rice cooker, and an air fryer and use them a lot. I do a lot of roast chicken, which is manageable, as are salads and rice in my rice cooker. It's trying to get variety with cooked veggies that fails.

We tend towards big bold flavours that use a lot of spices and aromats. We love all sorts of cuisines. We love Indian and Indian-subcontinental food in particular, but most recipes are too involved for me to do right now. If you have good, easy hands-off dump recipes, I would appreciate them.

Please boost. We're on a two-person instance, so hashtags don't get me very far.

Thank you so much for helping.

A quick tip if you have friends who haven't joined Mastodon yet: Don't say any variation of "join Mastodon" at this point

Just tell them to join either your instance or some instance you know that you think they'll gel with. Eliminate the decision paralysis and just get them started :3

the 2023 Montreal Anarchist Book Fair set the fucking standard for me on anarchist events and masking. every single person indoors, without exception, wore a mask. i don’t know how they managed to get compliance that high because i never saw any confrontations about it, but they did. they even served food, you just had to eat it outside.

i’m pretty sure i saw more people wearing masks in an hour at the book fair than i have seen anywhere else totalled up across the entire year to date. it was really impressive.

and that’s how anarchists should be. we should be *better* than the status quo mishandling of a pandemic. war on the existent includes COVID and it includes ableist propaganda!

Hi Mastodon,

I just joined yesterday because I was quite intrigued with this social media concept. I've read that it's more organic than other platforms.

Anyway, hi I'm Sylvie and I'm an artist originally from the Seychelles Islands who now lives in Guam, USA. I create sculptures, love soft and silky textures, love to laugh, and attempt to live a slow and simple life style.

I saw someone argue that shitposters can't succeed on Mastodon because their posts won't go viral due to the lack of an algorithm.

As a counterpoint to their belief I would like to introduce exhibit A, whatever the hell this account is.

The search for SwiftUI developers has got me going down so many interesting rabbit holes 🙂

One person’s profile that I browsed had this article about how somebody has decompiled all the old Sierra games (at least, I think that was what the post said, it’s been a while and I’ve been going through a lot of profiles). I bookmarked the article to read but no time yet ..

Somebody else mentioned a recipes app they had settled on:

https://mela.recipes/

Recipes apps hold a special place in my heart since I’ve done a few in my time since the wife wanted one which worked just right 😛 This bookmark was mostly for her but I’m curious as to what this app gets right as opposed to the ones we’ve tried …

Hey I'm Alicia, an artist who really hasn't been feeling social media lately (especially IG and FB) so I thought I'd try Mastodon out and see if I like the simplicity of it more. I think I picked the perfect server, since I'm much more likely to be in my sunny garden than anywhere else. BlobCat_Love 🌞

My interests include
and making.

I have a family business called Fibre2Fabric where we dye all sorts of fibre, yarn, and fabric and I want to get into clothes some more!

Hope I get to meet some cool people the algorithm would drown out on other apps.
