Guess should do an #introduction, huh?
Well, most people think Iโm a walking contradiction. Iโm both serious and funny. Science-minded yet creative. Visual and verbal. Introverted yet extroverted when I connect with someone. Down-to-earth and a dreamer. Kind-hearted yet hard-edged. Reallyโฆthere is a method to my madness. (Iโll let you l know when I find it). The key thing is that I love to learn and have an insatiable curiosity (which is probably why I have so many hobbies).

Hello! My name is Manda and I'm a self taught artist. I work with mostly mixed media right now, but I am still looking for my main medium. I like to paint lots of different subjects but primarily focus on botanicals, landscapes, and portraiture. I really want to improve in all of these areas. I also like to plan and journal in my hobonichi weeks. I love stickers and washi tape!
I hope to find a space here and look forward to meeting lots of new friends!
I just read another news article about why mastodon didnโt make it and is dying. Itโs very sad to hear and probably explains why I have to keep adding more server capacity to handle all the people quitting mastodon.

It makes me so sad that so many #disabled people take on society's view of them as deficient, shameful, and deprived. We internalize and individualize systemic #ableism and then blame ourselves for our misery.
It just shows how badly a #DisabilityPrideMonth is needed...
I'm sad for my younger self because I grew up thinking the same way. And indeed even my current self: I'm not totally free of internalized ableism, probably never will be. But at least now I have a better chance of spotting it.
This was explained much better on the post where r/blind explained that blind mods can't moderate the subreddit any more.

Serenity At The Lake
I always enjoy the simple yet dramatic moments outdoors. Davis Lake, which is located in Tombigbee National Forest just a few miles from the Natchez Trace Parkway, makes a great setting for sunsets.

This is a really well-done comprehensive article on long Covid in the Scientific American, I hope others will get informed on it and start masking up to protect themselves and others, because it is common and these body systems are truly being affected, and we need to do something. To start we need others to get educated: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/long-covid-now-looks-like-a-neurological-disease-helping-doctors-to-focus-treatments/
To anyone thinking about joining BlueSky, especially artists: everything you post is sent to a third party for AI labeling.
BlueSky uses AI to label content for moderation, and to do that they use a company called https://thehive.ai. If you look through their privacy policy, you will see that they can use content sent to them to train models for all their services, which include generative AI for both text and images.
