Someone in my town is setting off a loud firework every time the Chiefs score. Like, I'm glad you're excited, but since I didn't know it was happening, that first boom was unwelcome. Not that the subsequent booms were that much better, but at least I had figured out what was happening.

@AngelaPreston I hate when that happens. In Sri Lanka, they set off fireworks for anything β€” New Year, just start blasting fireworks at midnight when some of us are trying to sleep.

Your daughter got married? Set off fireworks.

Your favourite team won! Set off fireworks.

Somebody got elected to office. Cue fireworks.

It’s annoying. Sure, you have the right to celebrate whatever and however you want, but do be considerate of others too?

@f It's becoming more common here - I used to only hear them around July 4th, but now it's to the point where someone is even blowing stuff up for the local college team when they do well. Haven't seen/heard it for elections yet, but with the way politics is going here that may be the next thing.

Whoever it is tonight is VERY EXCITED now that the Super Bowl has concluded. I hope they don't lose any fingers - I always get a little nervous for folks who like to mix alcohol and fireworks and the odds are good that's what happening here.
