Mastodon, Threads, and BlueSky all have different character limits for posts.

This makes cross-posting much more difficult than it needs to be.

How about a standard here? Preferably, the larger of the three limits.

And while you’re at it, how about if everyone adopts the mastodon (no time limit) edit button?

@davemark Well, it gets even more complicated when you take into non-vanilla Masto/Fedi installs since you can have whatever character limits you want 😛

My instance, for example, has an 8,000 character limit. And I've seen others with even higher character limits.

@davemark Mastodon doesn't have a single character limit. This is configurable by the instance administrator.
