I'm looking for some fun fantasy and sci-fi book recommendations where people aren't being dicks to each other. There can be bad guys but, you know, no internal backstabbing and betrayal. If I wanted that I'd turn on Fox "News", and I just am not in the right place for that kind of emotional labor right now.

Also, it would help for any series to be complete. I need distraction and can binge a series in a few days.

@Perrin42 I'm not sure if this is quite what you're looking for (it's very much fantasy and not very much sci-fi, and also like 10% romance) but I could recommend my favorite series Dragon Blood by Lindsay Buroker. There's a fair amount of military and covert ops involved, but IIRC you can mostly take the characters' motivations/alignments at face value. Very little abject betrayal.

There's also a followup series called Heritage of Power, if you wind up liking it. Different main characters but set in the same universe and it's a fairly similar story. All together it's something like 16 books so it can definitely occupy a person for a while 🙂

@Perrin42 I have a couple of books in a series which I hope are fun 🙂Wordplay, all sorts of cheeky references, and poking fun at humanity in general. The books are not connected, but it's a series because they are set in the same universe ...

Here's the blurb for the first book:

In a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has gotten a new lease on life via a technology infusion from alien visitors, a man who sold his wife's dog to a Martian scrambles to get the dog back before his wife's wrath catches up with him. He'd better hurry, because Martians love dogs — as a delicacy.
