Sometimes writing is looking up when people stopped saying "photostat" and started saying "xerox" and then just writing "they made me a copy" instead.

@mythopoetica ooh, that's interesting. If I limit the ngram search to British English, it does look like photostats were more popular for longer. I wonder if that's why the term got so embedded...

@pretensesoup @mythopoetica In Sri Lanka, I don't think anybody's ever said "xerox" ... at least anybody Sri Lankan 🙂It's "photocopy" over there and still is what is ussed.
