From Apple:

"Predictive code completion requires a Mac with Apple silicon and 16GB of unified memory"

This is the first time I've heard Apple call for a min of 16GB. This is for Xcode, so developers take note.

But I can't help but wonder if other AI models will push this same 16GB minimum.

Add this to the 8GB vs 16GB debate.

@davemark They did mention this during WWDC, if I'm not mistaken. Unless you really don't want the code completion functionality, this probably makes the minimum RAM for a dev machine 16GB.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the 16GB RAM requirement becomes necessary for other features too and not just code completion ...

@davemark It also calls into question whether Apple can continue to sell Macs with only 8 GB of ram.

@mcelhearn That's what strikes me the most. And no easy fix if you've got 8GB.
