@helplessduck hmmm… what is that? Does it still have that suffocating flavor of dismal hopelessness?

@IvoGatzinski

Put steel-cut oats and some other stuff (like yogurt, frozen fruit, and honey -I like to do layers like a parfait) in a mason jar with enough almond milk to cover it and leave it in the cooler, overnight.

@helplessduck @IvoGatzinski I like overnight oats, too. Much better than cooked oatmeal.

Pro tip: the oats don't need to soak in liquid overnight. 20 minutes will do. Or none, depending on your texture preferences. Muesli, for example, can contain uncooked oats, and there's no soaking involved.

I like mine mixed into yoghurt.

@helplessduck i am skeptical. It seems like a waste of perfectly good ingredients. the oats will only spread their abominable flavor…

They take on a chewy texture, flavored with whatever you put in there with them. It has to be steel-cut oats. None of that instant oat garbage. That's not even fit for pigs.

Disagree. Seven hours, minimum.
WITH HONEY AND BERRIES!

I put bourbon in one once. That was a nice hair of the dog... 😂

@helplessduck @IvoGatzinski LOL serious preferences here! I don't do alcohol, so I'll deffo skip the bourbon.

@helplessduck @IvoGatzinski I sometimes do instant if that's all I have on hand. LOL

So, you know, lots of variability here. Experiment. See what you like.

Yah, it was... interesting. Good bourbon and only a splash (think two teaspoons). It gave it a really nice smoky, vanilla profile. I don't heat my overnights, so it definitely had a tiny bit of alcohol in it. I don't think I'll do it again. The bourbon factor makes it kinda expensive.
