So she shows up and we're chatting on Discord and getting ready to make the run, and then her husband gets on Discord. Suddenly he's on the Raft! Then their two kids show up as well!
So suddenly I had a Party On My Raft. I briefly felt overwhelmed because I hadn't been expecting the whole crew, but then it was awesome.
I am so glad I'd been stockpiling materials. I was ready for ONE additional player but I was not prepared for FOUR. We had to make a bunch of water bottles, weapons, all that stuff.
But it was fine, because that family is ORGANIZED. We made the necessities and got through the level. Then the daughter (6) asked where the spare planks were and then she took over the cooking station, turning ingredients into meals that give longer-lasting energy. The dad smelted a bunch of stuff and then he jumped off the raft and went foraging. He brought back several Poison Puffers' worth of goods AND he defeated the Screecher on the first island we came across. The son (9) kept the shark busy (and then dead). And my friend was installing lights, adding onto the raft, collecting the stuff from my nets, and reorganizing all the stuff.
I barely knew what to do with myself! They were very efficient.
Anyway, we got through the location and found the stuff we needed, no problem (that kid is great at defeating Lurkers), and then we visited some islands and now I'm ready to go to the next spot.
I'm reluctant to go there alone because it sounds like it's a lot more challenging (new adversaries). So I'm grinding more stuff in the meantime. The Husband said he might hop on and help me out, which would be awesome.
I coasted on the high of that unexpected group outing for like, a day and a half. It was so nice of them to hang out.
