Can someone recommend an app for logging any kind of event and then getting some statistics out of it? Example events:
- Walked the dog.
- Drank a cup of coffee.
- Felt a sore knee.
- Used dental floss.
- Saw a full moon.
After logging events over a period of time the app should be able to answer questions like "How often do I feel a sore knee?".
I don't want to use Shortcuts, Airtable, or similar. I'm looking for an all-in-one solution. My backup plan is using a calendar.
Iâve tried or otherwise researched all the suggestions in this thread and none really seem to match my needs. Most of these suggestions are habit trackers, mood trackers, or somehow involve building something on top of other tools. Most interesting suggestion is exist.io. I need to take it for a swing but it seems more focused on correlating data sources than what Iâm looking for.
Either thereâs close to no audience for an app like this or thereâs a hole in the market.
Made a mockup of the app I wish existed. Users can long press on an event to track it. Each event shows a summary of how often it occurs. Tapping the event shows details.
Some graphs are blurred because I got lazy and didn't want to draw all of them.
Some screens are missing, obviously, but this is the gist of it to me.
@simonbs Iâve been wanting something similar, only change from what I can see is that I wanted it to draw from HealthKit.
So, if I had some heartburn or something, Iâd mark that it occurred as you have. Then, it would try and see if there were any similar patterns within my health data which may correlate to it, ex: Youâve drank X mg of caffeine each this has occured, or are Y food, etc.
@jordanmorgan this has been my white whale; an app Iâve planned exhaustively and partially started a few times. Just never worked out for various reasons, mostly because I was thinking far too big.
@simonbs instead of a long press, could you have tiles a-la-shortcuts where tapping triggers the main action and thereâs a button to view details? It could also be the other way around but I figure tracking is the main job?
@simonbs looks very similar to AnyDistance: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/any-distance-workout-tracker/id1545233932
@simonbs the graph on the left looks like youâre flipping someone off đ
@simonbs I could actually see this being useful for doctors, researchers, etc. because itâs basically a journalling research study. Free for personal use, sharing charges someone (maybe the recipient).
@simonbs sounds like you have your next project. I would pay good money for this.
@simonbs I love this idea and it shouldnât be too much work to whip up something quick in this direction. Maybe Iâll give it a go in next days.
@simonbs Fyi, check out Qtally:

@simonbs Iâve been looking for a project to enhance my swift skills. Might be fun!
@simonbs Simon, I will pay monthly to have an app like this. Just a clean UI to input life events and some nice graphs to view trends. FoodNoms' UX comes to mind.
@simonbs The devil's in the details, though, right?
- Able to go back and delete events you "butt dialed" in
- Able to log things happening in the past when you only remember to log some time later
- Sync and multi-platform. Want to be able to enter from my phone or my mac
- The idea of "days" is...hard. Sometimes I stay up past midnight. I change timezones and don't expect past events ever to move days when I change tz.
- Want to glance how many hours since I last took ibuprofen w/o math
@jordanmorgan @simonbs A HealthKit correlation app just launched. It doesnât do data entry.
@matthewskiles @simonbs Great guys... This is almost exactly what I wanted to build once đ (and still wants basically)
... but I thought it would be too simple and there is so many apps lika that already đ¤ˇââď¸
@simonbs the closest thing that I have used in the past is just track https://apps.apple.com/us/app/justtrack-numbers-habits/id1595510904
@livekeen Agreed! I think this could very well be an app that taps into medical use cases.
@simonemargio @simonbs Hmmm, my dog wants me to go out with him regardless of rain and actual temperatures SCNR đ¤Ł
@mark I agree that there are a lot of unanswered questions in this mockup đ
@jefframes well if you ever do make it, let me know!
