I generally try to share the upside of the changes we need to make to address climate change (and there are many, including the chance to make a more just and healthy world) but sometimes, like today, I'm just sad and tired. And I wanted to say that, in case you are too. Sometimes it's ok to be sad and tired.

Writers of the Fediverse!

Do you blog? I'm going back to blogging and I need folks to read/follow. Comment and let me know where to find you! (Esp. science fiction, horror, and fantasy folks).

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I'm blown away and so touched y'all like my work ๐Ÿ˜Š

Here's a portrait study I painted last year. Something more loose to relax. It's fun just letting the brush go and see what happens. :)

@joehumphrey it was likely the new mods who took over the subreddits when the admins didn't bow down to the overlords that did it. But yeah, not cool. At all. I wasn't rude, didn't call names or swear, or call for violence. Just expressed my displeasure in a rational way. And that was apparently enough to warrant deleting my comments.

@stephaniepixie well... this wasn't the only pain, or even the worst. Let's just say that my body is defective and hates me. LOL

We owe a lot to @feditips. Think about maybe throwing a few currency units to thank them for all the hard work. https://liberapay.com/FediThing

@SharonCummingsArt hard agree. I like people who make the world a better place, a more pleasant experience. I also like geeks and nerds who have extensive knowledge about esoteric things and people who are open to new experiences, but this is secondary to kindness and compassion.

@stephaniepixie I'm sorry it's gotten worse for you.

I started getting migraines at four. They were infrequent until puberty hit. Then I had a migraine every day until I was, oh, in my early twenties. It was hell.

@stephaniepixie I hate the multi day ones. I used to get those all the time as a teenager. I still get migraines (I'm now old), but they're bearable for the most part now. I have vestiges of one at the moment. The pain and aura are there, but thankfully relatively faint.

@joehumphrey I hear you. Reddit is dead to me.

I went back and deleted all of my posts/comments except for about twenty comments that were critical of Reddit. For curiosity, I checked my comment history yesterday (and to make sure I didn't accidentally leave anything else behind).

There are now only three remaining comments. I did not delete the others.

Mastodonโ€ขART ๐ŸŽจ Curator

A recent update to the 'official' apps means that new Masto users are directed to the 'official' mastodon.social instance by default.

It's a huge general instance, and while that may be fine for some, if you're looking for a stronger sense of community or want to find your own people (and especially if you want *really* good and active moderation), have a look at the smaller instances:

https://fedi.garden

They still connect to the fediverse, and they're much nicer spaces to hang out in!

EDIT3: i'm going to close this to new submissions since they've slowed to a trickle now

new to mastodon? do you make cool shit? if you've got under 100 followers, reply to this with 1-4 images of stuff you've made and i will boost you to my 5.8k followers, because i want people who do creative work to find a place on mastodon

please note i will be spacing out boosts to not spam my followers too much

EDIT2: if you're a composer (or do similar non-visual work) you should probably drop a link to where people can listen to your work. maybe add cover art if you have any

EDIT: if i miss your post it's likely you're on an instance mine has muted, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about that

Iโ€™m seeing folks from on despairing that the siteโ€™s new limits, and its general m*sk-era brokenness, will compromise their ability to stay updated on the catastrophe unfolding in their homeland and share emergency info.

Once more: mastodon/fediverse needs to think seriously about how to expand to users in Asia and Africa and how to handle emergencies

I get vastly โ€” vastly! โ€” more engagement and sales here than any other social site. Artists, this is the place.

@smerp hard agree. Instagram is useless. Facebook is fine because they're my actual friends. Twitter is dead. The Fediverse? Fabulous.

What was I doing, you ask?

Sleeping. I was sleeping.

Here are some small tips for new masto users:
-FOLLOW LOTS OF PEOPLE.
-follow hashtags you have interest in
-USE HASHTAGS when you post!

Mastodon doesnโ€™t have an algorithm like twitter or Instagram (which is a good thing) so you get to really curate your experience here. Following more people and following hashtags gives you a feed with lots going on and helps expose you to new people!

Use hashtags so others can find you!

Also, the biggest thing I can recommend is to actually INTERACT.
